Comparison Of Electric Actuators And Pneumatic Actuators

Apr 21, 2022|

Compared with pneumatic actuators, electric actuators have three main advantages:

(1) No special air source and air purification devices are required;

(2) Signals can be transmitted over long distances, cable laying is much more convenient than trachea and liquid pipeline laying, and it is convenient for line inspection;

(3) The connection with the computer is convenient and concise, and it is more suitable for the adoption of new electronic information technology.

The disadvantage is that in the event of a power failure, it can only remain in place.

Compared with electric actuators, pneumatic actuators have two main advantages:

(1) The pneumatic components are simple in structure, easy to manufacture, easy to standardize, serialize and generalize;

(2) In the case of power failure, the double-acting can remain in place, the single-acting can be reset, and control can still be achieved in the case of a backup gas source.

The disadvantage is that the pneumatic system has a large exhaust noise during use (you can consider adding a muffler).

In the process of use, we also found that the selection of the regulating valve is the most important link. The working quality of the regulating valve is largely related to its actuator and the processing quality of the valve core, so choose the valve suitable for the process requirements. And the actuator, will play a multiplier effect. In view of our selection experience, it is recommended to give priority to high-quality valves and electric actuators under the premise of not tight budget, reliable performance and easy maintenance, especially in large-scale long-term use projects, the advantages are more obvious
